Bloomsburg University Softball Splits Pair

SALEM, VA-- The Bloomsburg University softball team split a pair of games on Saturday at the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament in Salem, VA beating Glenville State, 3-0, and losing to West Virginia State, 1-0.

In the Glenville game, the Huskies scored their first run when Danielle Lazorka (Williamsport/Jersey Shore) reached on error and later scored on a double by Mandy Koch (Dauphin/Central Dauphin). Bloomsburg got two more runs in the sixth with one scoring on a single by Casey Massimini (Downingtown/Downingtown West) and the other with the help of an error by Glenville State. Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) earned the win going the distance and allowing just three hits.

In the West Virginia State game, WVS scored a first inning run and made it hold up in beating the Huskies 1-0. Bloomsburg managed five hits in the game, but could not score.

The Huskies, 9-2, will continue play on Sunday morning in the tournament.
